Sorry, I had unexpected delays! Good fun answering your questions.
Favourite Thing: Take things apart, work out what they do, then try and put them together again (the hard part!). I am also really interested in helping people. I hope that my research will feed into medicine, for example medical technology and a better understanding of biology. I also quite like organising my own time, and not having a boss!

Full-time PhD Student
Me and my work
I am a vision scientist, investigating vision in humans and animals, particularly animal eyes, 3DTVs, and human accommodation (how we focus on things).
My Typical Day
I do experimentation on human subjects, a lot of programming and simulations, and some thesis writing!
What I'd do with the money
I would travel to schools where I grew up and give talks on science, I would also hope to buy them some equipment.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Friendly, inquisitive, and hungry (most of the time).
Who is your favourite singer or band?
Chickenfoot, Clutch, Extreme, Jurassic 5, Ray Lamontagne, Mr. Big, Otis Redding… tough question!
What's your favourite food?
Steak and salad then sticky toffee pudding.
What is the most fun thing you've done?
What did you want to be after you left school?
A secret agent like James Bond, a professional sportsman, or a martial arts actor like Bruce Lee.
Were you ever in trouble at school?
Quite a lot! I left school at 16, and didn’t get things back on track for a few years (should have stuck in!)
What was your favourite subject at school?
Physics (I liked to see how things worked, and burning magnesium in Bunsen Burners).
What's the best thing you've done as a scientist?
Increasing understanding of evolution and cats eyes (which involved watching quite a few youtube videos!)
What or who inspired you to become a scientist?
Movies and videogames partly! I’d also say the mystery of consciousness, a big thing we all feel but science can’t explain!
If you weren't a scientist, what would you be?
Physiotherapist (or a secret agent trained in martial arts)
If you had 3 wishes for yourself what would they be? - be honest!
I’d wish to be better at maths (the boring wish), speak another language, and be able to guitar and piano really well!
Tell us a joke.
What do you call a dinosaur with one eye?… Douthinkhesaurus… sorry.
