Jared Parnell answered on 11 Mar 2015:
I like to think that we all change the world a little bit. I just want the changes I make to be good ones, no matter how big or small.
I hope that by learning and writing about science, more people will understand it, and then more people will want to do it, and this will help develop new technology and theories which will change the world.
My work might not change the world, but it might be a small part of something that does!

As Jared says, during our work, we all are a small part of the scientific process, and produce work that contributes a little bit for our topic of choice.
I like to think that something discovered in my lab might one day help to treat cancer or spot cancer earlier.
So it might not be a world changing discovery, but help a little bit towards a better world.

If everyone would treat other people (no matter who they were or where they came from) as they expected to be treated themselves, then that would be pretty cool.
But in terms of science, err… maybe the Frenspresso? Like a cross between a French press and an espresso coffee maker. Maybe not. I should probably stick to my research project…
But generally I agree with Jared and Isabel, I’d like to think that my work contributes a little bit to everyone, and together we can use it to discover new technologies and understand our world just a bit more.

I like what the rest of the other guys are saying here! Making changes to the world is something we can all do in different ways. I think the important thing is to ask how you can best make your own contribution no matter what you decide to be (an artist, a teacher, an economist or a scientist!).
I hope that my work can help make a positive contribution to my field and deepen the way in which we think about evolution and development in humans but also in other animals and species. But these are more likely to be small steps in a super long path ;]

Thank You Guys!
That was very helpful, and keep me posted on what new ideas and that you are thinking of doing that could change the world, or just small things that change people as individuals! 🙂 😉
