I think this depends on us quite a lot. The way in which we interact with our environment and are considerate of it can really affect how the earth changes in the future. For example, it looks like the earth is getting warmer and warmer which can be very bad. But we know that there are many things we can change in the way we live to improve this situation, like use more renewable energy (e.g. from the sun and the wind), waste less and recycle more!

At the moment, humans are the greatest game-changers in our planet.
We have made other species of plants and animals extinct, keep consuming beyond the plants resource limits and are causing man-made climate change. The consequences of these events, if they continue without any intervention, is surely bad news to our planet and all its inhabitants…
It is now in our hands to stop this process and try and control and repair the damage already done…
Like Zena says, one way of doing this is to reduce the amount of energy and stuff we consume. My husband and I actually have improved our house to decrease the amount of energy we consume and to use more renewable energy. I also avoid flying and use public transport when possible, and I am a vegetarian, since meat production in large scale is a very polluting industry. Small steps, but they do help!
