• Question: is being a scientist stressful?

      It can be! Most scientists would say that the most stressful thing is that we need to spend a lot of time applying for more money to do our work. And this takes time, and at the same time it can be very hard to be awarded the money you need to do your research :(. Also, sometime we have deadlines and have to work a lot to meet them (e.g. marking student’s work, preparing articles for other people to read etc).

      But I’d say all the fun things about being a scientists make up for the stressful times 🙂

      Sometimes yes! Experiments, even very well planed opens, might not work… scientists also have to apply for money to help us continue to do our work, and that is stressful…
      As Zena says, we do have a lot of deadlines all the time, and sometimes we can feel a big overwhelmed…
      But yes, most of the times, the fun and excitement do balance out the stress 🙂
