It really depends on how early the cancer is spotted by the doctors. Most of the more nasty cancer types, such as cancer of the lung, pancreas and ovary, are so because they are hard to spot early, so they can go on growing and spread without being noticed. For these types of cancer, when signs that the cancer is there appear it can be very late… The most important thing to treat cancer is to find it early, before it spreads, because most of the issues with cancer is when it spreads to other organs.

It also depends on how important is the organ where the cancer appears. For example, with brain cancer, when the cancer grows in the brain and also during treatment, there can be quite a lot of damage to the brain that cannot be repaired.
