The colour of our eyes is determined by our DNA which we inherit from our mother and father. This is because our DNA determines how much melanin is produced in our eyes and melanin is the chemical that determines what colour our skin, hair and eyes are. Lots of melanin means we get dark eyes and hair and skin and less melanin means lighter eyes, hair and skin.
