Unfortunately, some disease-causing organisms, such as viruses and bacteria, can adapt and change, so the treatments we already have stop being effective.

In the case of bacteria, for example, there are some bacteria that have changed so much that they are now resistant to most of the antibiotics we have. This is really scary, because antibiotics are one of our best weapons against infections. This is why scientists are trying really hard to find new antibiotics.

In the case of cancer, for example, again, it is hard to cure it because, to start off, cancer is not just one disease, but many different ones, even when we talk of a specific cancer type, such as breast cancer. I think future treatments for cancer will be tailored to the person and will change throughout the development of the disease.

These are just a few examples, you can imagine how complicated it gets when we start thinking of how many diseases there are out there!
