      I think the biggest challenge we face in medical microbiology is discovering new ways to kill nasty bacteria. Most of the antibiotics we have nowadays ruin the risk of becoming useless because so many bacteria types are now becoming resistant to them, that is, they are no longer being killed by them.
      In my view the discovery of new antibiotic treatments is one of the biggest challenges of the 21st century.
