Isabel Pires answered on 9 Mar 2015:

Ebola is caused by infection with a very specific group of viruses, called ebolaviruses. Infection happens through contact with blood, sweat, saliva or other body fluids from an infected person or animal. It is thought that many of the recent outbreaks were initially caused by people eating infected wild animals, such as fruit bats.
