This is very much dependent on which type of cancer we talk about.

According to statistics collated by CRUK, of more than 200 different cancer types, only four – breast, lung, prostate and bowel – account for more than half of all new cases in the UK since 2011. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, and it mostly happens to women, and accounts for nearly a third of all cancer cases in women. Prostate cancer on the other hand, only occurs in men. The next most common cancers are lung and bowel cancer, with very similar number of cases for men and women. So you see, it depends of what cancer type we focus on.
