Most meteorites are mate of rock but some of them are made from a combination of rock and metal. Most of them used to be part of other bodies in space such as asteroids, or in more rare cases they used to be parts of other planets.

As Zena said, most meteorites are made mostly from rock, and some have metal and even organic molecules on them.

There is this theory that some of the organic molecules that lead to life as we know it arising might have come from outer space on a meteorite crashing onto the young earth!
