      I became intersted in Lasers during my Physics degree, I was particulary interested in a type of laser called a semiconductor laser. These are lasers made from a type of material called a semiconductor (silicon is an example of such a material),

      I was interested in the Physics behind these devices and the many ways in which they can be used. For example these type of lasers are used in CD/DVD players, for internet communications, to diagnoise disease, to detect explosives and to measure greenhouse gasses. They can also potentially be used for quantum computers and teleportation.
